Ever wondered how your ancestors got to your homeplace? How long had they been in the area before you were born?
Were your grandparents born
there or did your grandparents parents move there from somewhere else? Where is
the somewhere else?
Maybe you are searching an
ancestor that has living in the area for the past 100 years, now they have disappeared,
no trace of them anywhere within 50 miles, now where to?
Maybe looking at the
migration trends of the time period will provide a hint of where you might
start looking.
As I began searching the
different migration routes of the early 1700s-1800s, I came across this great
chart on the early migration roads. It is unique, in that it also listed
the date the road was opened, usual origin and usual destination.
By looking at the route of
the road, researchers may be able to pick up a hint on how their ancestors
arrived to the current area.
